Thurrock Bikers are 'Riding For Aiden' to raise funds to help buy an electric wheelchair. Do you know anyone who would like to take part in this event by riding their motorbike from East Tilbury to ASDA, South Woodham Ferrers on Sunday 5th November at midday? You can donate any amount of money to take part, but there must be a duck showing somewhere such as cuddly toy, flag, clothing, rubber duck etc!
In February 2022 Aiden who is now 14 years old was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the left femur. He immediately started chemo which meant he was in hospital for most weeks. In May 2022 he had an operation to remove the Femur, Knee joint and 50% of his quad muscles. He then continued chemotherapy until October. He didn’t manage to start physiotherapy until March 2022 and this was privately due to the lack of NHS support. He built a great relationship with his physio and had recently started swimming lessons and was loving it.
All of this came to a crushing halt on August 2023 when he was told the cancer had come back in the ball joint of his left hip. On the 29th August he had another major operation to remove the ball joint but they had found this had spread to the socket so replaced this as well. Due to his growth finishing they also replaced all current metal work. This ended up taking him back to square one. The family want him doing regular physio during the week to get him back to normal as quick as possible. This ends up costly and we are asking for help to get his life back. No child should go through this especially twice. We are grateful for anything. Every penny counts.
Aiden has been continuously in hospital fighting an infection. Had another procedure on his leg which is awful and now has a picc line again. The family are trying to keep him positive and even food bill is killing them.
