Essex Outdoors - Danbury
Essex Outdoors at Danbury boasts over 15 outside activities (including aerial trekking, climbing and mountain biking), as well as a stunning landscape that is comprised of seventy acres. Amongst this centre's facilities are: a newly built dining hall with full catering facilities; extensive camping and amenities; a self-contained residential unit and a fully equipped conference suite and classroom. They've also recently added 10 log cabins - perfect for those who want to stay on-site in luxurious accommodation.
Great Notley Country Park - Great Notley
Great Notley Country Park has so much to explore that you could easily spend an entire day there. There's Sky Ropes, Essex's longest play trail and plenty of areas to walk, birdwatch, cycle and fish. This park is also one of the best equipped when it comes to the facilities on offer, which include: toilets, a discovery centre, an outdoor cabin and facilities for birthday parties, school activities and conferences.
Rope Runners - Brentwood
Rope Runners is an award winning high ropes centre, as well as an adventure park. There's plenty of activities that run throughout the year (which range from archery to water zorbing), as well as great deals on multi-activity days and high ropes course sessions. 2016 will also be a year that this centre reaps the rewards of significant investment, as they expand their range of activities and add to the centre's facilities.
Hadleigh Park - Hadleigh
Hadleigh Park was home to the 2012 Olympic Mountain Biking trails. Here you'll find over 18km of cycling courses, as well as more than 500 acres that are perfect for long walks and the exploring of a diverse array of wildlife. They also put on plenty of events throughout the year, such as national competitions and family fun days; and after all of that energy sapping activity there's also a nice cafe to recuperate within.
High Woods Country Park - Colchester
High Woods Country Park leads the way as far as beauty hotspots go within Essex. Here there are woodlands, open spaces, a lake and wildflower meadows. This is complimented by rich natural habitats that include marshy areas, hayfields and scrubland that are home to thousands of different birds and mammals.
Dogs are more than welcome and there are also plenty of play areas to keep everyone from the toddler to the teenager happy. Finally there are always events being run, such as 'Wild about Wildlife' days, which runs from the visitor centre, as well as 'Bush Craft for Beginners' and 'Fairies and Pixies' watching.
