Built in 1883 by John Bateman, Bateman's Tower is a Grade II listed building which can be found at the entrance to Brightlingsea Creek at Westmarsh Point on the River Colne.

The Tower was used by John Bateman as a folly (bathing house) for his daughter to recover from consumption. Some believe it may have originally been built as a lighthouse for a planned port expansion that did not materialise.
