The Headgate Theatre are proud to announce their February season of work. There really is something for everyone. Linus Karp’s one-man comedic parody How to Live a Jellicle Life is coming to the Headgate on its national tour after two sell-out runs. This five-star production is described as “witty, unique and sidesplittingly funny” and will be the perfect tonic to a chilly February night.
In an exciting encore to the Colchester Fringe that the Headgate proudly hosted last October, Horse Country comes to the Headgate from 15th – 19th February. Directed by Mark Bell (The Play That Goes Wrong), this play won the Best of Fringe Firsts at the Edinburgh Festival in 2002. This ‘high octane’ production is a two-hander featuring two clowns shooting the breeze in a way that’s described as “Tarantino by way of Beckett”. Performed by Daniel Llewellyn-Williams (Eastenders) and Michael Edwards, this production is not to be missed.
Popular facilitator and professional storyteller Hannah Brailsford is back with her own production Word Spun Nights: Love Speaks. Settle in for an evening of storytelling that celebrates and commiserates love lost and love found. Accompanied by folk duo Goodnight Crow, Brailsford explores the folk tales that inspired Shakespeare and beyond. This is the perfect way to mark the season of love.
In a change of tone, February is rounded off with an evening of magic courtesy of Martin Cox. This acclaimed show features internationally renowned magical artists Tim Shoesmith and Sylvia Sceptre. Shoesmith is an Inner Magic Circle magician whilst Sceptre delights audiences with her ‘merrily macabre’ style.
From parodic silliness and gothic drama to storytelling and magic, the Headgate have something for everyone this month.
