The Tavern has been operating as a public house for many years now and due to its location near to the river Colne and promenade, has remained successful. As a family, we took ownership in April 2018 and are delighted to continue the age-old tradition of this historic free house. We are proud to be a real ale house and part of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale).

We offer three ales on draught: the very popular Essex Boys, which is on our pumps permanently and supplied to us by Crouch Vale brewery in South Woodham Ferrers, and two guest ales which are supplied to us by various local breweries and which are continuously on rotation.

From our fridges we offer bottled and canned lagers, soft drinks and crisp, cold, white wines. On our shelves we have a selection of red wines, crisps and peanuts for you to enjoy. Our permanent draught cider is Thatchers and we also have real boxed ciders for you to enjoy.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome but please be aware that we do have a very beautiful Labrador named Cooper who is off his lead in the bar most days. We also have a cat that makes a regular appearance!

We welcome well behaved children under 13 until 7pm and 13-17 year olds.
